Dark secret art of FARMING systems like Memeland and Yogapetz

Hi Fren,

Memeland started the NFT farming meta. What is farming? You ask your to complete some simple tasks that advertises your project and in return, you get some tokens or rewards.

Yea, some of you will say memeland didn't start this! So and so did it before. But Memeland did it well, they gained 2M followers. Yogapetz is running a farming campaign right now and about to cross 500K participants.

Wow! So farming is amazing. You get lots of engagement, lots of followers and lots of people posting about you on twitter. Everyone should do it! Well....here's the dark secret. Alot of them are bots. Anytime there's money involved, people will bot it.

Case study: Dustland

I need to practice what I preach so we're currently running a farming system for DOSE token.

The key is to keep it simple. You follow us and tweet to earn some tokens. Takes 2 clicks. Let's see how it's doing.

  • We have 46 people participate in 24 hours.
  • Only 6 people claimed to get the token (more on this)
  • 20 tweets on twitter

We're getting engagement and people tweeting. Win right? But the problem is that only 6 people claimed the tokens. It makes sense to claim the token if you've completed the tasks right? Well, I did some digging and there it is....bots. You can tell if an account is a bot they only have 15 followers and only retweets.

What's the conclusion? You should still implement a farming system. It works. But you should find a way to eliminate the bots. I.e. Set some limit on the number of followers before distribution of rewards.

If you want to check out our system, click here to earn some DOSE! It's always good to experience how others do it. If you want to try your own, we're using THX network to do it.

Keith's pick

This is more personal interest but I'm seeing a few alpha projects do well. My personal picks are:

  • Steady Stacks
  • Project Godjira

I think these 2 projects have done well in terms of building around an alpha focused group without being too degen. The network they've built is impressive so it feels like a premium alpha group.

P.S. If you've tried our farming system, let me know if you have any comments. Happy to like your tweet!

BT404 404s are moving fast. We went from ERC404 to DN404 and now there's BT404. "It will be the first NFT collection that comes with a native profit-sharing P2P marketplace." - BT404 This is a good thread on BT404. 404s on L1 and L2 other than ethereum High gas prices are a big problem for 404s. It costs almost as...

Hi Fren, What worked in 2022 doesn't work in 2024 anymore. The playbook is changing. Everybody needs a FARMING website. You need to give rewards to your holders for tweeting. It takes more effort to build a website but it works better than getting influencers to shill you. Portal KILLED it with their farming system and people made hundreds of thousands of dollars farming portal engagement. If you tweeted #portal and engaged with portal tweets, their system detected it and gave you shards....
