What we can learn from Moonbirds acquisition

Hi Fren,

Moonbirds by Kevin Rose rose to prominence during the 2021 bullrun. At it's peak, Moonbirds were worth 30eth but it has struggled recently falling to below 1eth.

Yuga has been on a buying spree. Acquiring multiple assets like Cyberpunks, 10KTF and Meebits. They're sitting on some of the biggest NFT collections by trading volume. Now they've added Moonbirds.

Unlike previous acquisitions, this one is controversial. Alot of BAYC holders are not happy because BAYC price has been falling and adding moonbirds seems to dilute the brand.

There's speculation that VC firm a16z lined this up as investors in both projects. Moonbirds need a revival story and Yuga is a great home.

My take

Acquisitions are complex. Maybe Yuga acquired Moonbirds for stock and got hold of their $30M+ cash treasury. I suspect it got a good deal out of this.

If there is 1 area for improvement, I think it could be better communicated with the community. If the community feels like they have been consulted, I think there would be less confusion.

The market has changed. Buying other collection is no longer a bull signal. People are getting smarter.

In the end, if the bullrun returns then Yuga is sitting on multiple blue chip IPs. If they can execute on integrating them, that's a BIG ask then it'll come out as a winner.

Who's getting acquired next?

Right before Moonbirds got acquired, the floor pumped and a bunch of people made money from the Yuga news. Is there insider trading? I don't know but if you know Moonbirds is getting acquired by Yuga, would you buy some?

The pump is unusual and this is pure fun speculation. I'd guess that Memeland would buy them. Why?

Alot of the early supporters of Memeland were from KaijuKingz. Huge overlap. This is important.
Same style of art.
Memecoin needs a story. Kaiju has that in time for stakeland.

Kaiju removed their tokens from the market. It would be ripe to adopt $meme token.

Pure speculation but I think this would be a good buy for memeland. Let's see!

Marketing in 2024 has changed

Hi Fren, What worked in 2022 doesn't work in 2024 anymore. The playbook is changing. Everybody needs a FARMING website. You need to give rewards to your holders for tweeting. It takes more effort to build a website but it works better than getting influencers to shill you. Portal KILLED it with their farming system and people made hundreds of thousands of dollars farming portal engagement.
